Teachers

Teachers are the most influential factor determining equity, access, and quality in education, and represent the key to sustainable development of the planet. By affirming the Incheon Declaration for Education 2030, countries have committed themselves to work towards “teachers and educators are empowered, adequately recruited, well-trained, professionally qualified, motivated and supported within well-resourced, efficient and effectively governed systems”.

Countries of the region have prioritised their needs by placing teachers as central to the achievement of the Education E2030 Agenda. OREALC/UNESCO Santiago, through its Regional Strategy on Teachers, seeks to strengthen the important role of teachers and influence the design of public policies focused on improving their performance.
