UNESCO Office Kingston
 

This Office covers 13 Member States, 3 Associate Member States and 4 other countries and territories in the English and Dutch-speaking Caribbean, 14 of which are members of CARICOM.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is the main political and economic body encompassing the region. CARICOM is moving rapidly to deepen the process of regional integration, through the establishment of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) and the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).

Work continues apace under the Caribbean Universities Project for Integrated Distance Education (CUPIDE), which brings together five universities across the English, Dutch and French-speaking Caribbean in a collaborative distance education project aimed at improving access to their services through increased use of information and communication technologies (ICT). The universities are the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech), the University Quisqueya (Haiti), the Anton de Kom University of Suriname (AdeKUS), the University of Guyana (UG), and The University of the West Indies (UWI), which is responsible for the management of the project, under the guidance of a Project Advisory Committee, chaired by CARICOM. More
