UNESCO aims to:-
Promote primary and lower secondary education as a fundamental right for every Caribbean citizen;
Contribute to the improvement of educational services delivered in the Caribbean at primary and lower secondary levels;
Promote experimentation, innovation and the dissemination of best practice.

Education & ICTs
UNESCO works towards ensuring that the benefits of the new information and communication technology are made available to children and young people, with a view to improving their daily life and opening up job opportunities for them.
Education for Sustainable Development
In December 2002, the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly and UNESCO was designated as lead agency for the promotion of the Decade.
Education Plans & Policies
UNESCO assists policy and decision-makers to develop a clear vision and relevant implementation strategies to take up the challenge of achieving sustainable human development, poverty reduction, the promotion of universal human values and tolerance, and the challenge of new information and communication technologies.
Literacy
Literacy plays and important role in the vision and hopes for equity, justice, peace and development around the world.
Non-Violence Education
UNESCO promotes Non-violence as an holistic theory and practice that rejects aggression and violence in order to achieve goals or resolve conflicts in a constructive way.
Caribbean's Education & HIV/AIDS Clearinghouse
This site provides access to Caribbean-related resources and facilitates charing of information on key events in the region and internationally.

11 Feb 2005 Northerrn Caribbean University (NCU) to open $55m Kingston campus IESALC Northerrn Caribbean University (NCU) is scheduled to open its $55 million Kingston campus on Thursday.
The new campus, located at Half Way Tree Road, has a capacity for 600 students, and will centralise the two off-campus operational bases for the Mandeville-based NCU. More |

SANDWATCH Workshop on an Educational Tool for Sustainable Development Port Royal, Jamaica 29 Nov 2005 - 01 Dec 2005 UNESCO Office for the Caribbean and Jamaican National Commission for UNESCO will hold a workshop for Jamaican educators on Sandwatch. Sandwatch is an educational approach to sustainable development, evolved from the UNESCO Small Islands Voice and Associated Schools Network project Sandwatch. The project originally started in the Caribbean in 2001, and since then, it has been introduced in many schools in Small Island Developing States around the world. More |
