  • Foundation chaired by Mehriban Aliyeva inaugurates a new school for girls in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan

08-02-2008 11:00 am On 8 February 2008, a delegation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, sent by Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of the Republic of Azerbaijan and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, inaugurated a newly-built school for girls in the city of Muzaffarabad, Pakistan.Muzaffarabad,-Pakistan,-Feb.jpg

The opening ceremony organized on this important occasion was attended by local Pakistani officials who praised the significant contribution of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and in particular its President Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva.

The girls school in Muzaffarabad was devastated by the heavy earthquake in October 2005. Bearing in mind the need for assistance, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation had decided to build a new school at the initiative of Mrs Aliyeva, who has presented the project of this school during the last Annual Meeting of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors held in April 2007 in Paris.
