    The Lao People’s Democratic Republic joined UNESCO on July 9, 1951. The country is covered by the UNESCO Office Bangkok, a Cluster Office which also covers Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

    The country participates in EDUCAIDS, a UNESCO-led response to HIV and AIDS.

    This initiative aims to address the impact of HIV/AIDS, prevent the spread of HIV and support education systems related to HIV/AIDS learning environments. The Lao People’s Democratic Republic is also home to one UNEVOC centre.
