Albania has been a member of UNESCO since October 16, 1958.

As of September 2006, the country has 21 schools participating in the UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet).

Albania is one of the eight countries which have volunteered to participate in the “One UN” pilot initiative. This will test how the UN family – with its many and diverse agencies - can deliver in a more coordinated way at country level.
