Niger has two natural sites on the World Heritage List and is cooperating with UNESCO to ensure that one of the sites, the Air and Ténéré Natural Reserves may be removed from the List of World Heritage in Danger.

Its Tentative List is particularly rich with nineteen sites.

In relation to the intangible heritage, the country is making every effort to safeguard not only its endangered languages, but also the biram, the musical instrument of the Boudouma fisherfolk.

Cooperation between Niger and UNESCO also focuses on the sustainable development of cultural tourism. This country is associated with two projects: "Culture, Tourism and Development in West Africa" and "The Sahara of Cultures and People".

In the field of cultural industries, Niger receives UNESCO's support from the International Fashion Festival in Africa (FIMA) and the promotion of its film industry.
