UNESCO is the United Nations’ specialized agency for education. Since its creation in 1945, it has worked to improve education worldwide through technical advice, standard setting, innovative projects, capacity-building and networking.

In the current biennium (2010-2011), UNESCO New Delhi will work to ensure that EFA is firmly anchored as an integral part of the Cluster countries development agenda. It will also continue to promote education as a fundamental right; improve the quality of education; and stimulate experimentation, innovation and policy dialogue.
