'Conserving the Borobudur Temple for the Future' focuses on the key conservation efforts and activities at the Borobudur Temple undertaken as part of the UNESCO ‘First Stage Restoration/Conservation Work at the Borobudur Temple Compounds’ project funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and in partnership with the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture through the Borobudur Conservation Office.
The publication provides a brief history of the significant conservation interventions that have occurred from the early 1900s to the present day and outlines the key conservation challenges that are still being faced. The booklet aims to raise awareness around conservation issues at the Borobudur Temple and will be distributed to local community members, visitors to the site, and local guides. The publication has been created in English and Indonesian to reach the greatest number of visitors to the World Heritage site.
