The country hosts the UNESCO Cluster Office in Rabat, which covers Algeria, the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia.

The Intercontinental Biosphere Reserve of the Mediterranean, shared by Spain and Morocco, was established and officially designated in 2006.

Morocco’s northern mountains are subject to frequent earthquakes and periodic droughts. It participates in many projects to increase capacity building in the fields of mitigating disaster, sustainable development, water management and to reinforce women’s capacities.
