The country is covered by the UNESCO Cluster office in Teheran, Iran. 

UNESCO is cooperating with the Government of Afghanistan in conducting a review of its national science and technology and in formulating a national policy.

The development of the University of Kabul is also one of the current priorities of cooperation between UNESCO and Afghanistan within the framework of the Organizations' increasing efforts in helping members states through post-conflict reconstruction.


The country is taking part in 2 regional freshwater-related networks and projects, one of them the Asian Water and Development Information for Arid Lands Network (Asian G-WADI). This network is designed to strengthen the global capacity to manage water resources in arid and semi-arid areas by building an effective global community comprising networks, centres, organizations, and individuals.
