The country is hosting a UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty, which covers Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Two of the 5 UNESCO Chairs Kazakhstan holds are science-related: one is in environmental education and the other in sciences and spirituality.
