The country is covered by the UNESCO Office in New Delhi, India.


The Maldives are a group of 1,196 coral islands. Nearly all lie very low on the water, making them extremely sensitive to sea level rise and tsunamis.

The republic is involved in Sustainable Development in Coastal Regions and Small Islands (CSI) and ocean-related projects.
