Mondialogo: a Cooperation between UNESCO and DaimlerChrysler
Through “Mondialogo” UNESCO and DaimlerChrysler promote intercultural dialogue and exchange
Aim
Mondialogo brings people from different cultures and from different parts of the world together so that they can talk to each other and exchange ideas, knowledge and opinions.
Areas of Cooperation
The Mondialogo initiative consists of three components:
A School Contest aimed for students between the ages of 14 and 18, the biggest contest between schools; thousands of schools around the globe are invited every year. The first Mondialogo School Contest 2003/2004 brought together approximately 1,500 teams and 25,000 students from 126 countries in the world. An Engineering Award for the young engineers and technicians from technical schools and universities all over the world; supported by expert partner organizations: the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and the International Association of Universities (IAU).An Internet Portal, providing a dialogue platform. People from all over the world can exchange cultural information and interests. News items on intercultural topics as well as contests are posted. Participating teams can create Team Pages to exchange information with their partner schools. Intercultural forums as well as teachers forums are available.
Awards
In 2005 the Mondialogo portal won the International Visual Communications Association Clarion Award for “Strategic Communications” and was honoured with the year’s “Best Global Website Award” in 2005.
