Science writing internship: Offer for the summer

Deadline is Friday 26 February 2010

Do you have a love for science, and a talent for writing? Do you enjoy interviewing researchers about their work, and then reporting on it in an engaging, clear style? Do you like to work with people from many different cultures, especially from the developing world?

If so, then ICTP has an outstanding internship opportunity for you!

The internship can last up to 2 months. ICTP will provide housing, a small weekly stipend, and a travel grant.

Applicants must have a degree in science as well as formal training (preferably at the master’s level) in communicating about science to non-specialists and the general public.

Based in Trieste, Italy, the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics fosters advanced studies and research in physics and mathematics, especially in developing countries. The Centre operates under a tripartite agreement between the Italian Government, UNESCO and IAEA. Each year about 7000 scientists from around the world visit ICTP for workshops, training and research.

To apply, please email a cover letter (including proposed availability dates for the summer internship), your resume and three writing samples, along with the names and contact details of three referees who can attest to your writing capabilities, to pio@ictp.it.
