The Central and Eastern European Network on Migration Research (CEENOM)

Background

In the context of the need to provide policy responses based on empirical data to the new and diverse forms of migration, which have emerged during the post-socialist transformation, the Central and Eastern European Network on Migration Research (CEENOM) was created in 1998.

It was launched in a UNESCO-MOST meeting of experts, held in Moscow (8-10 September 1998), organised in collaboration with the Centre for Demography and Human Ecology, Institute of Economic Forecasting of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). This research network works in close collaboration with the UNESCO International Migration Section.

Objectives

CEENOM aims at fostering joint efforts involving all countries of the regions and the international community at large to exchange knowledge, reliable information and policy proposals based on research results.

"Protection of the Rights of Migrant Workers in Countries of Central and Eastern Europe"

Report from the International Conference on "Migration and labour market in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe", Chisinau (Moldova).

Countries Report: The protection of the rights of migrant workers in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS and perspectives of joining the 1990 UN Convention.
