Focus on UNESCO’s Management of Social Transformations Programme (MOST)
A 20-minute film, which puts into perspective the UNESCO’s Management of Social Transformations Programme in the context of the global economic crisis and that of the UN reform, has been published on the UNESCO portal.
Focus on UNESCO’s Management of Social Transformations Programme (MOST)Presented on 28 September at the opening of the 9th Intergovernmental Council (IGC) of UNESCO's Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Programme, held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris (France), this film retraces the main stages of a programme that remains the only United Nations programme to contribute, through research in social sciences, to the development of public policies that better respond to changes in our contemporary societies.

With commentaries in French, subtitled in English, and an original musical composition, this film revisits the highlights of the MOST Programme since its creation in 1994, focusing on its most recent accomplishments and its future priorities.

Besides interviews with Pierre Sané, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO for Social and Human Sciences, Christina von Furstenberg, Chief of the Section for Policy and Cooperation in Social Sciences, Germán Solinis, Programme Specialist in the same section, you can also hear clarifying interventions on today’s challenges at UNESCO through excerpts of speeches from the 8th United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, the 9th Director-General of UNESCO, Koďchiro Matsuura, the President of the 5th UNESCO Youth Forum, Verónica Vallejo, and the Ambassador of Cape Verde in France, Jose Duarte.
