Workshop report

The sub-regional Workshop on World Heritage Education Resource Kit for Teachers was organized by UNESCO, New Delhi from 24 to 27 November, 1999. Representatives of 5 countries in the region attended the Workshop.

A mayor objective of the Workshop was to examine the possibility of including heritage education in the school curriculum. The participants were required to study the Resource Kit for Teachers, and to draw up plans for initiating heritage education in their respective countries. The participants were also required to consider the possibility of translating the Resource Kit in their national languages.

The Workshop program was drawn up to provide the participants enough opportunity for in-depth discussion of the Resource Kit, as well as to share country experiences in the field of heritage education. The participants were able to listen to outstanding scholars in the area of Heritage Conservation and Education. Opportunities were also provided for visits to two heritage sites located in New Delhi.
