The CSW 43rd session was held at UN Headquarters 1-19 March 1999.

At its 43rd session the Commission monitored progress in implementing the following critical areas of concern of the Beijing Platform for Action: Section C: Women and Health, and Section H: Institutional Mechanisms for the Advancement of Women.  Work on an Optional Protocol to CEDAW continued in the CSW open-ended working group and a text was agreed.  From 15-19 March, 1999, the Commission also discussed preparations for the Special Session in the Year 2000.
