UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (864), established in 2009 at the University of Cyprus (Cyprus)

 

Fields / Disciplines Gender Equality. Objectives The specific objectives of this Chair are to: produce research-based guidelines, standards and indicators for gender mainstreaming, as described in the Roadmap for Equality between Women and Men (Commission of the European Communities, 2006-2010); work to integrate a gender dimension in all the training and educational centres and institutions of higher education, secondary and primary education in Cyprus as well as in the participant countries by developing a model curriculum and the relevant teaching aids (including computer-based instruction) in the field of gender studies; create and disseminate "good practices" for effective interventions which promote gender mainstreaming and quality in equality; strengthen links and communication with existing women's studies Chairs and Networks in the domains of women and gender equality.
