In 2016, the Secretariat of the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its two (1954 and 1999) Protocols registered two requests for the granting of enhanced protection submitted by two Parties to the Second Protocol.

The requests were presented by Georgia and Mali. They concern two cultural sites inscribed on the World Heritage List :

In accordance with the Guidelines for the Implementation of the Second Protocol, the requests will be first considered by the Bureau of the Committee, and then by the Committee.

The Committee will consider these requests at eleventh meeting scheduled on 8 and 9 December 2016.
