Democratic Republic of Congo

UNESCO Chair in Culture of Peace, Conflict Resolution, Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance (541), established in 2000 at the University of Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo).

Fields/Disciplines

Culture of Peace, Human Rights.

Objectives

  • To promote an integrated system of research, training, information and documentation activities in the field of Culture of Peace, Conflict Resolution, Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance
  • To facilitate collaboration between high-level internationally recognized researchers and the teaching staff of the University and other higher education institutions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the Member States of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and in Europe.
  • The activities in the field of human rights will be based on the international standards enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in the International Covenants on Human Rights and in other relevant standard-setting instruments, on the principles of universality, indivisibility and interdependence of all human rights as well as on the principles of equality between men and women.
