UNESCO Chair in Human Rights, Democracy and Peace (905) ,  established in 2010 at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (Greece)

Objectives

The specific objectives of this Chair are to:

  • analyze the new challenges of democracy and peace, as well as the establishment of the rule of law in Greece, South-Eastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean sub-region;
  • reinforce the capacity-development of academic institutions dealing with human rights issues, mainly through the consolidation of a database on this matter, and the establishment in Athens of a specialized human rights library;
  • foster North-South and triangular North-South-South cooperation through the establishment of an international network of researchers/ professors/ experts on issues of human rights and peace.
