Training on climate change

With climate change and climate variability becoming an increasing concern for global development efforts, UNESCO has developed an Enhanced Plan of Action for the Strategy for Action on Climate Change that is structured around three main strategic objectives:

  • Building, making available and maintaining the climate change knowledge base: science, assessment, monitoring and early warning;
  • Promoting mitigation of and adaption to climate change, including through enhanced education and public awareness; and
  • Moving towards a climate-neutral UNESCO.

In Jordan, efforts are underway to promote adaptation to climate change. Working with key national partners including the ministries of Environment, Health, Agriculture, Water and Irrigation, and Education, the UNESCO Amman Office is developing community-based research projects on climate change adaption and designing and implementing research projects related to the environment and climate change.
