MOUNT MYOHYANG

Brief description   The core area is set up to fully implement its conservation function on species and ecosystem with the endemic and threatened species it contains. The buffer zone around core area is established in forest ecosystems and some of agricultural regions, and is used for research, tourism and education. The transition area occupies forest, arable land and riverside areas for the purpose of sustainable development.

The study on hydrological dynamics of Mt. Myohyang are now under implementation for the prevention of flood damage.
The Mt. Myohyang area had been selected as one of the key area and included in the project titled “Study on the biodiversity in the key areas” which is one of the focal tasks of 5-year Plan for National Scientific and Technical Development (2003-2007). And based on these study results, the monitoring activities on the whole area are now underway. Study on the assessment of socio-economic value of biodiversity in Mt. Myohyang area is on-going.
