UNESCO Santiago launches Regional Education Assessment Map

The Regional Education Assessment Map aims to provide information on the existence of different types and levels of education assessment in a number of countries in the region, and is also part of the outreach work conducted by the Latin American Laboratory for Assessment of the Quality of Education (LLECE), a body coordinated by the UNESCO Regional Bureau of Education for Latin America and the Caribbean.

This map makes a contribution to general knowledge of countries’ commitment to evaluating their education systems, seeking to improve education quality. The map describes the characteristics of the principal international assessments in Latin America and the Caribbean, analysing what they assess, how often they are implemented and to whom, and how the study is designed.  It also provides a country-by-country analysis of the specific characteristics of the studies in which each country participates, in order to clarify the type of information generated.

LLECE is coordinated by the Regional Bureau of Education for Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC/UNESCO Santiago) and conducts its own regional studies of the education situation.
