FORCE DE SECURITE DES NATIONS UNIES
EN NOUVELLE-GUINEE OCCIDENTALE (IRIAN OCCIDENTAL)

EMPLACEMENT : Nouvelle-Guinée occidentale (Irian occidental)

QUARTIER GENERAL : Hollandia (aujourd'hui Jayapura)

DUREE : Octobre 1962 - avril 1963

EFFECTIF : 1 576 militaires, assistés de civils recrutés sur le plan international et local.

PERTES EN VIES HUMAINES : Aucune

COUT DE LA MISSION : Les gouvernements indonésien et néerlandais ont assumé à part égale l'intégralité des coûts.

FONCTION : Maintenir la paix et la sécurité dans le territoire sous l'Autorité exécutive temporaire des Nations Unies, mise en place par un accord entre l'Indonésie et les Pays-Bas. L'UNSF a surveillé le cessez-le-feu et aidé à maintenir l'ordre public pendant la période de transition, dans l'attente du transfert à l'Indonésie.
