Workshop on Intercultural competences for social inclusion Panama 2030

The workshop aims at strengthening strategic capacities for sustainable local development through the development of intercultural competences for social inclusion. The main objective is: to improve the mutual understanding and the political participation of groups and populations in conditions of exclusion, as well as to promote a culture of peace in multicultural communities, through training of local governments (at different levels) and leaders of the community in the field of intercultural competences.

The workshop will take place in two countries of the Central American region, Panama (Panama City) and Costa Rica (Limón).The workshops are aimed at participants from the respective municipalities or local communities, especially those related to projects for women, youth, indigenous, afro-descendants, persons with disabilities, and LGTBI populations. The workshop will last three days in each community.

It has the following specific objectives:
- To identify intercultural conflicts and local cultural expressions derived from historical and emerging practices related to racism, xenophobia, adult centrism, machismo, and homophobia, hindering human rights and intercultural dialogue for sustainable development.
- To develop intercultural competences with local officials and community leaders through trainings and capacity building for the sustainable development of their initiatives.
- To facilitate the sustainability of actions of inclusion that promote the participation of groups traditionally excluded from access to justice and labour market, especially women, youth, indigenous people, afro-descendants, persons with disabilities, and LGTBI population based on a human rights approach.

Some of the topics that will be approached are: intercultural conflicts; intercultural competences; human rights, social inclusion and resilience: multiple applications of intercultural competences; intercultural management: tools for sustainable development.
