The 6th High Level Meeting of Mayors for Inclusive Cities in Indonesia will be hosted on 27 September 2016 by the municipality of Padang, West Sumatera, with the intention to reinforce and expand the partnership with the local governments to promote the rights of persons with disabilities in Indonesia through inclusive and innovative public policies and initiatives.

The members and prospective members of the Network of Mayors for Inclusive Cities will gather from many parts on Indonesia, and together with the Disabled Persons Organizations (DPOs) reflect on the implications of the newly adopted National Law on Disabilities at the city level, and explore solutions to existing challenges through a collaborative effort.

A two-day workshop following the High Level Meeting on 28 and 29 of September will focus on building the technical capacities for promoting inclusive employment among the municipal officials and the representatives of DPOs, exploring issues such as accessible infrastructure, transportation, and information and technology.
The UN Partnership for Promoting the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD) in Indonesia unites UNESCO, ILO and WHO to support the Network of Mayors in its important role as convener of policymakers and the civil society.
