The prize, the only one of its kind in this field, will recognize organizations and individuals for innovative practices using ICTs to expand access to education for disadvantaged groups including refugees; internally displaced persons; socioeconomically disadvantaged learners; people with disabilities; cultural, ethnic and religious minorities; and vulnerable women and girls.

Two prizewinners will be named by UNESCO’s Director-General Irina Bokova on the basis of the recommendations of an international jury. Each winner will receive a diploma and a monetary award (USD 25,000).

The awards will be presented during a ceremony that will take place at UNESCO Headquarters on 21 February 2017.

Nominations should be submitted through the National Commission or an International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) maintaining official relations with UNESCO and working on the themes covered by the Prize. Proposals should be based on the selection criteria listed in the Guidelines of the Prize.
