The Global Conference of the Global Network on Water and Development Information for Arid Lands (G-WADI) will take place in Beijing, China from 25 to 27 October 2016. The theme of the conference will be “G-WADI more than a decade enhancing water and sustainable development for arid regions”. This conference is organized by the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) of UNESCO, the Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute (CAREERI), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Peking University and the South University of Science and Technology of China.
After a decade of actions, the G-WADI global network will held a commemorative Conference to highlight 10 years of achievements, and will focus on preparing the new goals and agenda for the coming years.

The goal of the G-WADI network is to promote the global capacity for management of water resources in arid and semi-arid areas. By building this global network, regional and international cooperation can be enhanced so as to increase knowledge and improve management practices through the sharing of information.
G-WADI is a programme of the IHP – VIII, with a network covering Africa, Asia, Arab region, Europe and the Americas.
