In the framework of the UNESCO-KFIT project on ICT Transforming Education in Africa, UNESCO has organized a study tour and training targeting the core country teams that are implementing the project in Mozambique, Rwanda and Zimbabwe. The event will have a focus on e-school development, teacher training and open and distance learning (ODL). Its aim is to strengthen the capacities of core project team members in key areas of the project and gain insight, knowledge and competences for improved implementation of activities in the target countries.

The study tour and training is organized in partnership with Korea Education Research and Information Service (KERIS) and Korea National Open University (KNOU). The objectives are to:
• Showcase the achievements of the Republic of Korea in the fields of e-school development and ODL and discuss the challenges and remedial strategies adopted;
• Allow participants to deepen their understanding of key concepts in e-school development, teacher training, open and distance learning in higher education;
• Discuss how the learning from the study tour can translate into more efficient and practical implementation of project activities at the country level, and also contribute to existing related initiatives in the countries;
• Allow participants to create synergies with the Korean institutions visited and with the other country teams by discussing and sharing ideas for concretely promoting ICT in education for improving the quality of education in the countries.
Approximately 16 participants will participate in the study tour. UNESCO Programme Specialists from HQ and Harare Office will also participate in the event.
