Social Policy and Development

About

The goal of social policy is to promote universal social protection and equality. The United Nations’ main tasks regarding social development is to strengthen international cooperation, based on the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and Programme of Action of the World Summit for Social Development.

Social Development encompasses a wide range of issues, including, but not limited to: poverty eradication, employment generation, cooperatives, ageing, youth, family, social integration, disability, indigenous peoples and civil society.

UN DESA’s Division for Social Policy and Development is dedicated to supporting the international community in its quest to ensure social protection and equality for everyone, leaving no one behind when it comes to sustainable development.
