Resolutions of the UN General Assembly

The 2001 Convention has been mentioned in a number of Resolutions of the UN General Assembly. These are listed below.

9. Acknowledges the recent deposit of instruments of ratification and acceptance of the 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage, calls upon States that have not yet done so to consider becoming parties to that Convention, and notes in particular the rules annexed to that Convention, which address the relationship between salvage law and scientific principles of management, conservation and protection of underwater cultural heritage among Parties, their nationals and vessels flying their flag;

Reaffirms the importance of the Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property, the Convention on Stolen or Illegally Exported Cultural Objects, the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and the two Protocols thereto, the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, the Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage, the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, and invites Member States that have not already done so to consider becoming parties to the aforementioned conventions and protocols that specifically address the return and restitution of cultural property to the countries of origin;
