Safety of journalists and ending impunity in conflict zones

In the framework of International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, UNESCO is organizing a high-level meeting with different stakeholders on ways to improve the safety of journalists and end impunity worldwide on 27 October 2016 in New York.
This event aims to pursue a better implementation of the UN Resolutions and to emphasize the importance of preventing violence and combating impunity, specifically in conflict zones. It will also serve as an occasion to launch the bi-annual Director-General's UNESCO report on the Safety of Journalists and the Issue of Impunity.
