XXXV National Coordinators Meeting, Latin American Laboratory for Assessment of the Quality of Education (LLECE)

For more then 20 years, the Latin American Laboratory for Assessment of the Quality of Education (LLECE) works with most of Latin America´s countries, in evaluations that measures learning achievements of primary education students. During this period, 3 comparative and explanative regional studies were applied.

LLECE is the main monitoring and follow-up mechanism available to the region, in the context of the Education Agenda 2030 as it is incorporated to 20 educational systems that apply the same learning measuring, an evaluation that takes in consideration the national curricula as a conceptual framework for its implementation.

The XXXV LLECE´s national coordinators reunion that takes place in Panama is a fundamental instance of the definition and planning of the work to be done in the Education Agenda 2030 and points to establishing guidelines that strengthens and guides the laboratory´s activities.

During the next 5 years, LLECE will organize its work in four great lines of action. For each one line it establishes a set of indicative goals that will be discussed in the reunion, and that LLECE proposes to reach in the 2016 – 2020 period.

Line 1 – how to continue the Regional Comparative and explanatory studies

Line 2 – Investigation and educative studies towards LLECE 2030:

Line 3 – Development and technical capabilities installations in the countries:

Line 4 – Structure of the technical functioning of LLECE inside the new period

The main objective in this reunion will be:

  • Analyse the complete development of TERCE study
  • Establish the fundamental milestones for the laboratory´s technical timetable
  • Discuss the new challenges set out by the Education Agenda 2030 on the topic of learning evaluation
  • Define the capabilities development agenda in the medium term
