New global survey shows E-government emerging as a powerful tool

The United Kingdom, followed by Australia and the Republic of Korea, lead the world in providing government services and information through the Internet, e-government, according to a new survey released today by the United Nations showing the progress of nations in promoting e-government.

The United Nations promotes and support the development of public administration and institutions among Member States for realizing the internationally agreed development goals, including the SDGs. It supports inclusive intergovernmental discussions, research and capacity development for building effective, accountable, inclusive and transparent institutions. This includes analyzing and reporting on the institutional dimensions of sustainable development, notably on capacities of institutions and civil service, whole of government approaches, innovations, public accountability and corruption in relation to sustainable development.
