Population

About

In 2011, the global population surpassed 7 billion, and it is expected to reach 9 billion by 2045. The implications and management of our rapid population growth, as well as specific population-related themes are central to development efforts.

The Commission on Population and Development was created to follow-up to the implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development. It addresses the following themes: adolescents and youth, ageing, environment, family planning, fertility, HIV/AIDS, international migration, marriage and unions, mortality, MDGs/SDGs, population policies, population trends and urbanization.
