The Geneva Plan of Action identified eleven lines of action that translated the general, global, transversal issue into key topics to be addressed in the building of inclusive Knowledge Societies. In other words, the Action Lines are common main areas to serve as an easy, reference in the execution of concrete actions. Responsibility to facilitating Action Lines was shared between number of UN agencies.
UNESCO took responsibility for six of them as following:

Cultural and linguistic diversity, while stimulating respect for cultural identity, traditions and religions, is essential to the development of an Information Society based on the dialogue among cultures and regional and international cooperation. It is an important factor for sustainable development. >> More
