Sound analysis and representation (pc)

Some programs can represent the inside of a sound, meaning that they analyse it from an acoustic angle [spectral analysis; sonogram; visual representation]. Volume envelope, basic frequency and partials are often analysed. An image on the screen represents the result of this analysis.

CSound
08 Jan 2004 - CSound is a successor to the legendary Music V. Like the latter, it requires some patience to learn the various commands. In fact, to produce a sound, you have to start by programming two pure text files in lines of code.

Sonogram
15 Oct 2003 -
This software enables you to represent a sound file in the shape of a sonogram (with frequency represented on the vertical axis and time on the horizontal, and intensity by colour or shades of grey).

Spectrum Analyser
15 Oct 2003 - This spectrum analyser works with the audio input of the sound card or from a wave file.To select an input: “File” menu, “Input”.To start or stop the spectrum analysis: “Run/Stop”.

Sound Frequency Analyser
15 Oct 2003 - This software does a live analysis of the microphone input of the computer’s sound card in the form of a sonogram. This is a representation of the sound on two axes (horizontal = time, vertical = frequencies).

10 Oct 2003 - Simulates an oscilloscope : represents the amplitude envelope of a sound signal. The signal represented can be stereophonic.
