The Cultural Space of the Bedu in Petra and Wadi Rum has been proclaimed Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005. An action plan has been implemented to preserve the distinctive characteristics of the lifestyle and oral expressions of the Bedu culture that has developed in these regions.
Cooperation between Jordan and UNESCO concerns World Heritage actions such as awareness-raising among the population, the younger generation and state institutions, control of traffic in cultural property, cultural tourism and, on a broader front, formulating cultural policies.
