In Havana XV Workshop on Social Anthropology and African-American Culture

Organized by the Casa de África and sponsored by the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean celebrating with this its first conference in 2011 within the framework of the International Year for People of African Descent.

The XV Workshop on Social Anthropology and African-American Culture and IV Meeting Oralidad “Festival Afropalabra” is taking place in Havana on 5 to 9 January 2011. The event is held every year at the Casa de África (Museum of African Heritage) an institution under the Office of the Historian of Havana.


Organized jointly with the Office of the Historian of Havana, the Fernando Ortiz Foundation, the National Museum of the Slave Route in Cuba and the Municipality Santa Cruz del Norte, the Workshop is also organized with the cooperation and sponsorship from the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean. The event is the first official action to promote the International Year for People of African Descent, which started on the 1st of January 2011.
