Over the next three years, the Building Montréal, UNESCO City of Design project will be seeking to create opportunities for design creation in Montréal (in architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, graphic design, industrial design and urban design) and develop initiatives that give vital and tangible expression to Montréal's status as a UNESCO City of Design.
A $1.2-million investment over three years will be used to finance the holding of design and architecture competitions leading to the implementation of projects. In November 2009, a call for projects, aimed at identifying design and architecture competitions per the guidelines of the handbooks of best practices in design, will be sent to public and para-public institutions as well as to non-profit organizations.
