Fields / Disciplines

Water resources.


Objectives
  • To conduct research in fields related to use and management of water resources in desert and arid zones.

  • To provide teaching facilities for postgraduate studies in the fields related to use and management of water in desert and arid zones.

  • To organize documentation and information services to develop a knowledge base in the fields relevant to the activities carried out by the UNESCO Chair as well as to facilitate the dissemination of its research.

  • To launch a network of Arab and African scholars and institutions involved in research and teaching related to the use and management of water in desert and arid zones.

  • To participate actively in the activities of the Mediterranean Network UNITWIN/UNESCO Chair in Water Resources, Sustainable Development and Peace.

  • To provide special training in the field of water resources in arid and semi-arid zones, desalinisation and water treatment.
