Counting out-of-school children

Globally, there were 115 million children out of school in 2001/02, according to a new report Children Out of School: Measuring Exclusion from Primary Education by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) and UNICEF. Computer literacy for secondary students

A survey launched in hutment clusters in thirty-five States of India revealed the reasons why children in these areas are not in school: parents see education as irrelevant; extreme poverty is a barrier, particularly for girls; children do not have proper shoes and the school is too far from home..
