ECOSOC, the UN body responsible for economic and social issues, is organizing in Geneva from 01 to 26 July 2013 its Annual Ministerial Review around the theme, “Science, technology and innovation (STI), and the potential of culture, for promoting sustainable development and achieving the Millennium Development Goals”.
UNESCO is contributing to this event in different ways and especially by organizing two Ministerial Breakfast Roundtables on 2 and 3 July 2013. The breakfast on 2 July will discuss the importance of culture and innovation in fostering entrepreneurship and resilience, as well as the impact of the creative sector at the local level in the pursuit of inclusive, equitable and sustainable growth and human development, while the 3 July breakfast will provide the opportunity for decision-makers to exchange ideas and explore practical ways of using STI to drive development efforts in their respective countries.
