UNESCO announces films selected for The Open Frame 2006

UNESCO announces films selected for The Open Frame 2006
Innovative, creative, public-service oriented documentaries, short fiction films and television magazines have now been selected to be screened at “The Open Frame: The International Festival & Forum on Public Service Broadcasting”, to be held in New Delhi, India from 15 to 21 September 2006.
These TY productions have been selected among more than 100 films from audio-visual directors and filmmakers from more than 50 countries by an independent, professional jury. They were submitted to UNESCO and the Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT) of India further to a call for proposals earlier this summer

The following films were selected:

    1. Almita del Che (Soul of Che), Martin Salas Terin, Bolivia, 30 minutes

    2. Eyes Wide Open, Kaushik G. Ray, India, 40 minutes

    3. I Had Something To Say, Fauzia Khan, Bangladesh, 40 minutes

    4. Angola Saudades De Quem Te Ama (From The One Who Loves You), Richard Pakleppa, Angola/South Africa, 65 minutes

    5. Bullshit, Pea Holmquist & Suzanne Khardalian, Sweden, 73 minutes

    6. El Cuerno Emplumado (The Plumed Horn), Anne Mette Nielson & Nicolenka Beltrain, Mexico, 54 minutes

    7. A National Bomb, Vagif Mustafaev, Russia, 99 minutes

    8. Roses for Signora Raisa, Natalya Ivanova, Russia, 40 minutes

    9. Sisai, David Gavro, Israel, 57 minutes
    10. White Walls, Meital Abekassis, Israel, 50 minutes

    11. Mirada de Condor (View of the Condor), Cecilia Posada, Spain/Colombia, 54 minutes

    12. Laji’oun Mada Al – Hayat (Refugees for Life), Hady Zaccak, UAE/Lebanon, 48 minutes

    13. Revisiting Public Service Television (A series of 7 fiction films and documentaries) UNESCO

    14. Frida Maestra, El Arte al Encuentro de la Vida (Frida Maestra – When Art meets Life), Luisa Riley, Mexico, 52 minutes

    15. Welcome 2 My Deaf World, Helen Gaynor, Australia, 52 minutes

    16. Rockin’ the Himalayan Kingdom, Dorji Wangchuk, Bhutan, 50 minutes
Participation conditions have been directly communicated to selected filmmakers. UNESCO and PSBT thank all filmmakers having submitted their productions for this initiative, held annually since 2002 and aiming at promoting the expression of cultural and linguistic diversity through the audiovisual language, by stimulating the showcasing and distribution of diversified media content from all regions of the world.

The submitted films are also being considered for UNESCO’s Audiovisual E-platform, an on-line catalogue and exchange mechanism for outstanding productions from all over the world. The final selection for the E-platform will be announced separately at a later stage.
