On 6 August UNESCO organizes at the XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City (Mexico) a skills building session on “Professional media coverage: culture, gender and human rights in HIV and AIDS reporting”.
The session aims to strengthen the capacity of accredited journalists, covering the event, to produce accurate, culturally relevant, human rights-based and gender-sensitive HIV and AIDS media coverage which adequately reflects the voices of communities that are most affected. The skills building session is co-facilitated by UNESCO, INTERNEWS and the Global Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS.
With the theme “Learning for All about AIDS”, UNESCO will be involved throughout the XVII International AIDS Conference 2008 in Mexico City in presenting sessions and activities to share new research and best practices on the global response to HIV and AIDS. UNESCO’s programme at the conference is a result of the contributions from all sectors, headquarters and field offices. Related themes/countries
