UNESCO is dedicated to improve access to information for development. Through this workshop, it seeks to offer a helping hand to policy makers and senior executives in developing countries by endowing them with comprehensive information about how and when to successfully embark on the road to e-government.

The UNESCO Toolkit aims to demystify concepts behind e-government and to strengthen the understanding of all those involved in planning and execution of e-government projects. It offers an action framework to all stakeholders in developing countries, including parliamentarians, government executives, representatives of national institutions and of non-governmental organizations, and guides them through various phases in their e-government initiatives.

The Toolkit endeavors to tackle all possible aspects for initiating, implementing and sustaining e-government programmes in any developing country. It defines the very concept of e-government, discusses the e-readiness and e-government action plans, and addresses such issues as technology, infrastructure, capacity building, as well as legislative and regulatory frameworks. The workshop will be facilitated by Guilherme Canela Godoi, from the UNESCO Office in Brasilia, as part of UNESCO’s continued commitment to South-South cooperation initiatives.
