The UNESCO Office in Jakarta covers two dimensions:
Country programming approach
In 2007, the Office produced the first Indonesia – UNESCO Country Programming Document (I-UCPD) for the period 2008 – 2011.
This document has been developed through a consultative process and in close collaboration with the Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO. It was prepared on the basis of the analysis of the country’s major development issues and challenges; the national priorities and strategies as spelled out in various national reports; country assessments and other relevant publications.
The desk study analysis was further enriched by the outcomes of two consultation workshops with the major stakeholders (ministries and government agencies), and through direct talks with the concerned Government officials.
The document serves as a consolidated basis for UNESCO’s support to, and cooperation with Indonesia, aimed at accelerating the realization of its national goals and its commitments to the Millennium Development Goals, in collaboration and in harmony with other UN Agencies and partners. It details UNESCO's strategic assistance in the past, present and plans for the future in supporting the Indonesian Government within UNESCO's fields competence.
The Office is currently coordinating the development of other UNESCO Country Programming Document in Timor Leste and the Philippines.
